Metalloinvest, a leading manufacturer and supplier of iron ore products and hot briquetted iron on the world market, one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, has launched a ball rolling mill (SHPS) at the Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant.
For the needs of Metalloinvest's own enterprises, ShPS will annually produce about 43 thousand tons of rolled steel grinding balls. The project provides for the possibility of manufacturing and shipping new products to third-party consumers.
Construction of the SHPS was started in September 2019. Metalloinvest's investments in the project amounted to about 1 billion rubles. The main technological equipment was supplied by the Chinese engineering company WISDRI. The new production facility created an additional 85 jobs at the plant.
“The launch of the ball rolling mill is an important milestone in the development of the Company,” said Andrey Ugarov, First Deputy General Director - Production Director of Metalloinvest Management Company. - The new mill will eliminate the dependence of our mining enterprises on external suppliers. In the future, we will be able to offer grinding balls produced by OEMK and other mining and metallurgical enterprises. ”
“ This is an important project in terms of synergistic effect for Metalloinvest enterprises, ”said OEMK Managing Director Sergey Shishkovets. - The transition to grinding balls produced by OEMK will reduce the cost of iron ore raw materials at the Lebedinsky and Mikhailovsky Combines by optimizing supply logistics, reducing transport costs and guaranteed product quality. The next step for us will be to expand our product mix to meet market needs. ”
Grinding balls are used to grind ore in ball mills at mining and processing plants. OEMK will produce balls with a diameter of 100 and 120 mm, weighing 4.6 and 8 kg and hardness groups 2 - 3 in accordance with GOST 7524-2015.
