On November 10, with the support of Severstal, the XXVI Golden Mask Award Ceremony took place. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, for the first time in its history, it was held online.
The broadcast was conducted from the stage of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater. The nominees watched the broadcast from theaters or their homes across the country and learned about the awarding of the awards at the same time by the audience.
The best of the best theater figures and actors were announced at the ceremony, and thanks to live broadcasts, the first, brightest emotions of the winners could be seen .
The competition program of the XXVI Golden Mask Festival opened in the spring of 2020, but was interrupted by the global epidemiological crisis caused by the spread of the coronavirus infection COVID-19. Shows of performances resumed only in the fall with the opening of theater venues in Russian cities.Despite all the difficulties, the Festival collected more than 70 significant theatrical performances of the past season in its competition poster, held a number of important non-competitive programs, initiated a series of broadcasts of performances-nominees in cinema and online, all this time remaining in the center the attention of the theater community and spectators.

We are grateful to the Festival for the fact that it was possible to overcome all the difficulties associated with restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, and to present to all connoisseurs a real celebration of theatrical art. This year, with the support of the company, the best performances of the Festival were also presented in the regions of the company's presence - Cherepovets and Kostomuksha, in December it is planned to show in Petrozavodsk, ”commented Natalya Poppel, Head of CSR and Brand Department of Severstal.
The National Theater Prize "Golden Mask" was established in 1994 by the Union of Theater Workers of Russia and is awarded to performances of all genres of theatrical art: drama, opera, ballet, operetta and musical, puppet theater. In 2002, a festival of the same name was organized, each spring presenting in Moscow the most significant performances from Russian cities.
Cooperation between Severstal and the Golden Mask Festival began in 2005 with the support of the Festival in Latvia. Since 2010, the best performances of the Festival with the support of the company have been presented in Cherepovets, and since 2015 in Kostomuksha and Petrozavodsk. In 2015, Severstal was recognized as a laureate of the Golden Mask award in the category For Supporting Theatrical Arts.
