Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant has mastered the production of a product that is unique for the Russian market - a new brand of high-strength cold-rolled steel. Its properties make it possible to produce parts of lighter weight with the same metal strength and to replace imported steel in the automotive industry and metalworking. The first batch of metal was supplied by NLMK to Specta, a major manufacturer of packing tape.
High-strength cold-rolled steel is used, in particular, in the production of safety parts for car bodywork. The strength properties of such steels also make it possible to form high-quality consumer characteristics of other products, in particular, a steel strip, which is produced by the VolgaStrap production unit of the Specta group of companies for packaging large-tonnage cargo: rolled metal, pipes, etc. The high strength of such belts must be combined with plasticity, withstanding dynamic loads.
To ensure VolgaStrap's production with metal with the required characteristics, NLMK supplied the client with steel that is about 1.5 times stronger than its closest analogues with a comparable level of plasticity.
