JSC "Uralelectromed" put into operation the anode furnace after current repair

Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk Region)

In the copper-smelting shop of JSC Uralelectromed (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex), the third anode furnace has been under repair. The cost of the repair was about 14 million rubles.

According to Ivan Turchaninov, head of the copper-smelting shop at Uralelectromed, the furnace has been in operation for a little over a year. During this period, about 345 heats were carried out on it. Now the unit has been dried and heated and produced the first 350 tons of copper anodes.

The workers of the centralized repair shop and contractors took part in the current repair of the furnace. During November, the contractors completely replaced the furnace roof, roof suspension, wall lining, metal structures of the evaporative cooling system, and the furnace frame. For the installation of the furnace, it took about 230 tons of refractory bricks.

In addition, in the techno-energy unit of the furnace, air screens were cleaned from dust - sections of pipes through which atmospheric air is supplied. They are used to lower the temperature of the exhaust gases and to heat the air entering the main burners of the anode furnace.

Reference: The copper smelter specializes in the processing of copper-containing raw materials that enter production in the form of blister copper and waste copper, which is subjected to fire refining in reflective ovens. The main product of the workshop is copper anodes, which act as a semi-finished product and are sent for further processing to the copper electrolysis workshop.
