Metalloinvest experts took part in the session “New Directions of Technological Development. Hydrogen energy - EnergyNet ", held as part of the intensive" Archipelago 2121 "in Veliky Novgorod.
As part of the hydrogen track on the Archipelago 2021, the participants determined the parameters that low-carbon hydrogen should have, worked out in detail the existing and promising opportunities for the production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen, aspects of the development of hydrogen energy, the experience of large industrial companies in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the goals and objectives of creating hydrogen clusters, measures and mechanisms of state support. Based on the results of the meetings, beacon projects were prepared and presented for their further study and synchronization between the state and business.
“Hydrogen is a key link in the ongoing energy transition for the decarbonization of the global economy. At Metalloinvest's production sites, we are already working on 3 pilot projects to introduce hydrogen into metallization processes, which are included in the all-Russian project "Hydrogen Energy", - said Alexander Kozhevnikov, Director of the Strategic Development Department of Metalloinvest. “This year we plan to develop the Company's Hydrogen Strategy with a list of the main stages and measures for the widespread introduction of hydrogen into the processes of mining and metallurgical production in order to achieve the Company's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050”.
In 2021, Metalloinvest completed the development of its Climate Strategy. The company is committed to achieving carbon neutrality and maximizing greenhouse gas emissions from its customers by 2050 as its long-term benchmarks.
