JSC "Uralelectromed" (an enterprise of the metallurgical complex of UMMC) is actively continuing the construction of the third stage of the copper electrolysis workshop. Currently, 112 electrolysis tanks have been installed and calibrated on sub-series racks. This is the main technological equipment, where the electrochemical process will take place to obtain high-quality cathode copper grade M00k.
Polish-made electrolysis baths are made of anti-corrosion and high-strength polymer concrete and can serve without repair for 20-25 years. One bath accommodates 62 cathodes and 63 anodes. In general, the third stage of the shop will house one circulation system, consisting of 224 electrolysis baths with associated technological equipment (tanks, pumps, heat exchangers).
In addition, work continues at the facility under construction to close the thermal circuit - installation of wall panels. The roof covering with waterproofing material is 65% completed. The pouring of concrete floors under the baths and the production of foundations for technological machines for the preparation of anodes and anode scrap is underway.
Recall that in February 2012, JSC Uralelectromed put into operation the first stage of a modern workshop with a design capacity of 160 thousand tons cathode copper per year. In May 2018, the second stage with a similar capacity was launched. With the launch of the third stage, the design capacity will increase by 80 thousand tons per year.
