Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant has launched a new complex for laser processing of electrical transformer steel with a capacity of 54 thousand tons per year. This is the fourth line for the production of metal with improved magnetic properties at NLMK Group sites.
Laser treatment of the metal surface at the final stage of production allows to reduce specific magnetic losses by 8-10%. For customers, this makes it possible to produce energy efficient transformers in accordance with the growing market requirements.
NLMK Group is the only transformer steel producer in the CIS and holds more than 10% of the world market. NLMK is currently building a new plant for the production of transformer steel in India, with a capacity of 64 thousand tons per year.
