A joint venture between Severstal and the German company Lide - Linde Severstal - has shipped the third (last) spiral heat exchanger (SVTO) for the Amur Gas Processing Plant (GPP). The first two SVHOs were shipped in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
Spiral heat exchangers are used in the technological process for the production of helium at the units for the extraction, liquefaction and filling of this valuable gas at the Amur GPP (required for heat recovery of the nitrogen-helium mixture). The first of three such installations has already begun work. The capacity of each is 20 million tons of helium per year.
Heat exchangers for the Amur GPP are the first result of the localization of Lide production in Russia. All technological operations (winding of pipes, assembly of SVTO and testing of finished products) were completed at the production site in St. Petersburg with the involvement of domestic companies. In the process of manufacturing heat exchangers, the share of localization of Russian enterprises increased. So, for the production of the second and third SVTO in Russia, all the main components of the equipment (tubes, cores, housing) were made.
Each SVTO is unique and is developed specifically for the technological needs of the customer plant, taking into account the thermal and hydraulic characteristics. are also selected to suit the operating temperature range and corrosion resistance requirements. The weight of the third SVT is 52.4 tons, the body diameter is 1.8 m, the length is 15.77 m, the thermal power is 8.5 MW, and the bundle consists of 480 tubes.
Severstal's participation in This project is an example of the new positioning of the company as a supplier of integrated solutions adapted to customer requirements. The company is able to provide a wide range of services and supply a large list of metal products manufactured by Severstal assets. The heat exchange equipment of Linde Severstal is the basis of Severstal's unique trade offer for the construction of LNG plants, "said Dmitry Goroshkov, Director of Relations with Severstal Energy Companies.
JV Linde Severstal was established in June 2017. In 2019, Severstal bought a 26 percent stake in a joint venture with the German Lide, and in the summer of 2020 increased it to 50 percent. Linde Severstal produces spiral-wound heat exchangers, which are key equipment at enterprises for the liquefaction and processing of natural gas. Today, Linde Severstal is the first and only Russian company producing such heat exchange equipment.
