TMK is increasing the volume of inter-factory cooperation to modernize its own production facilities

TMK Steel Technologies, part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), supplied steelmaking equipment to the Volga Pipe Plant (VTZ), a branch of TMK. As part of the inter-factory cooperation, a steel truck was manufactured according to an individual technical specification with full development of design documentation.

The product is designed to transport a steel ladle with a lifting capacity of 150 tons from an arc steelmaking furnace to a "ladle furnace" installation, where the steel is brought to the required temperature and chemical characteristics. The steel truck with a length of more than 9.5 meters, a width of more than 6 meters and a weight of 65 tons is equipped with an electric motor, gearbox, braking system, running gear and is made of low-alloy steel, which is highly resistant to intense thermal and mechanical loads. The equipment is controlled remotely.

The design is complemented by a special fastening system that dampens dynamic loads that occur during movement, and four load cells that transmit real-time information about the volume of steel in the bucket. These solutions ensure maximum safety of transportation of molten metal.

"The implementation of this large-scale project was the result of the joint work of TMK Steel Technologies specialists and the engineering center of the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant. The development of new technologies and the creation of individual design solutions within the framework of inter—factory cooperation is aimed at reducing dependence on external supplies of equipment and ensuring uninterrupted operation of production facilities thanks to its own developments," said Evgeny Gubanov, Managing Director of ChelPipe and TMK's mainline engineering division.

Previously, TMK Steel Technologies had already manufactured heavy machinery products for other TMK branches and partners, in particular steel filling buckets, converters, a grab basket, a tray for an arc steelmaking furnace, scrap buckets and service platforms.
