What types of gasoline are there?

Combustible lubricants

It is very difficult to find gasoline with an octane rating below 92 at foreign gas stations. This is due to the fact that old cars are prohibited from operating on public roads.

What types of gasoline are there?

The variety of fuels is due to the different types of gasoline engines. For some, a low octane number is needed, others are of higher quality, and therefore more expensive fuel. Gasoline, a rather complex liquid in terms of chemical composition http://www. petrolplus.ru/article/chto-takoe-benzin/, which is produced from crude oil. It is at the production stage that several standard types of gasolines are formed that can be found at a gas station.

Accepted Standards

A flammable liquid has a pungent, unpleasant odor, toxic enough to be poisoned by the vapor. Initially, completely transparent. The manufacturer paints it on purpose so that a certain variety can be visually distinguished from another type. The following marking has a decoding:

  1. The first letter "A" suggests that the fuel is for cars.
  2. The second is "I", octane number obtained by research method.
  3. The following numbers, which most buyers are guided by, show the real octane rating.

Octane number can be described as the ability of a fuel to resist detonation. That is, it is relatively smooth to burn in cylinders, and not explode, causing damage to the engine.

Why is the variety so great?

Everything is very simple, at the very beginning, factories could only produce low-octane fuel, and engines with a long piston stroke needed just this kind of gasoline. Gradually, manufacturers have learned to make more advanced engines, which required better fuel. At the moment, the most popular types of gasoline are:

  • A-72 pink, fuel for military vehicles that are not demanding on the quality of fuel;
  • A-76 (80) has a yellow tint; it is used on machines produced domestically before 1990;
  • AI-93 is the most popular type of fuel for modern cars and motorcycles, has a reddish tint;
  • AI-98 with blue color, suitable for the most demanding, usually forced vehicles with high-revving engines.
