Consolidated cargo – savings or lost opportunities

Container transportation by sea is rightly considered the most economically accessible way to transport goods. It is not surprising that groupage cargo from China are in stable demand. The cost of transporting a completely filled and almost empty sea container will be the same. Accordingly, consolidated cargo saves on shipping each unit of goods as a whole.

What can be transported using the groupage method

In fact, almost everything that is not prohibited by the legislation of the two countries can be transported by sea container as part of groupage cargo. Experienced transport companies sort goods into categories so that some of them cannot harm each other. The most popular and sought-after destinations for transportation from China are:

  1. Numerous cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
  2. Souvenir products and fragile glassware, ceramics.
  3. Delivery of household and industrial electronics and components is popular.
  4. A whole list of textile products, fabrics and ready-made clothing.
  5. Products made of natural and artificial leather, shoes, suitcases.

The prefabricated method is economically profitable to deliver disassembled furniture over long distances. Despite the overhead costs, even in this case it is economically beneficial for the seller and the end consumer. Equipment for light and heavy industry can also, in some cases, be supplied prefabricated.

How quickly groupage cargo arrives

Time factor, the only conditional drawback. The company deals with a large flow of goods; groupage cargo is formed quickly enough to fill a sea container. But, even in this case, the actual period may be affected by several variable factors:

  • distance between the sender and recipient of the goods;
  • weather conditions and some climatic conventions;
  • how quickly the sea container will be filled;
  • certain force majeure circumstances.

But, as practice shows, for most final recipients a period of 1-3 weeks is not critical. The economic side and reliability of transportation outweigh the advantages.
