Wheel tractor - from the first models to modern machines.

Сельское хозяйство

Design and purpose of a wheeled tractor. The history of the creation of the tractor. The main types and characteristics of wheeled tractors.

A wheeled tractor is a self-contained vehicle equipped with wheels that is used to pull and power various machines and equipment. The main characteristics of such a tractor are low speed and high traction. Wheeled tractors are used in various industries, including agriculture, construction and industry.

The invention of the Englishman John Gitkot in the period from 1832 to 1837 is considered the first tractor in the world. Due to their heavy weight, steam tractors could not be used to directly pull plows. Subsequently, with the development of agricultural work, two-machine plowing was carried out with the help of two steam tractors installed on opposite sides of the field. A plow with reversible bodies was pulled in different directions after each pass, thereby providing plowing. Scientific and technological progress made it possible to create the first tractor with an internal combustion engine in 1902, which was called Ivel. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Hanomag and Fordson factories launched mass production. It should be noted that the first copies were tracked, and wheeled vehicles appeared later. So, in Russia, the first wheeled tractor was assembled by Yakov Mamin in 1910, but mass production began much later. The factories of the Soviet Union put a heavy machine on stream only in 1922-1924 (Kolomenets-1, Zaporozhets, Fordson-Putilovets, Karlik).

Interesting features of wheeled tractors are their ability create traction through the wheels. They can be both four-wheeled and three-wheeled, depending on the purpose. Tractors with three wheels are designed specifically for working in cotton fields to save row spacing. The drive wheels transmit the movement from the engine, while the idlers provide control of the vehicle. Wheel formulas can be 4x4 (all-wheel drive) or 4x2 (rear-wheel drive). There are also all-terrain tractors that transmit power to all four wheels.

To reduce ground pressure, agriculture is increasingly using wheeled tractors with wide tires or twin wheels on all axles. Such tractors are usually equipped with diesel internal combustion engines, which have high torque at low rotational speeds. Depending on the purpose of use, wheeled tractors can be equipped with additional components or have specialized designs.

Types of wheeled tractors

Designation of special equipment depending on the level of traction:

  • up to 0.9 - walk-behind tractors and cultivators, mini-tractors;
  • 0.9-1.4 - tilled models and small-sized equipment;
  • 1.4-2 - machines for vineyards and garden;
  • 2 to 3 - machines with pneumatic traction, equipment and with the ability to adjust the track;
  • 3-5 - multifunctional tractors, plowing machines, tractor-technological models;
  • 5-8 - industrial tractors with high power;
  • over 8 - three-axle vehicles with all-wheel drive.

It is important to note that wheeled tractors can move on public roads, as opposed to tracked vehicles. However, wheeled tractors have significantly poorer ground traction than tracked tractors, which can cause skidding on loose or wet ground. Four-wheel drive machines prevent slipping on loose ground, but their large mass can damage the soil. Therefore, extra-wide wheels are widely used for heavy tractors, and engineers are constantly working to improve this technique.

We suggest paying attention to a series of modern models RMX AGRO wheeled tractors ranging from 60 to 240 hp With. and with high performance. Agromachines differ in simplicity and reliability of a design. Tractors are equipped with a rigid frame and a modular arrangement of units, which ensures reliability and ease of repair. RMX AGRO offers a wide range of models for various sectors, including agriculture and utilities. They can be used with traditional farming tools as well as modern tillage and seeding systems.
