The popularity of a relatively new building material is quite simple to explain. Thanks to ready-made panels, you can significantly reduce the construction time of real estate. We recommend to look at finished projects in order to visually assess the attractiveness of such houses. But, like any other building material, panels have their own characteristics.
Features of SIP panels as a building material
Composite material consists of three main layers. It is manufactured industrially according to the technology worked out to the smallest detail. Due to its mass character, it has a relatively low cost and high strength during everyday use. The following components should be highlighted as the main layers of the panel:
1. The core consists of high-quality, fracture-resistant insulation.
2. Inner panel made of conventional chipboard.
3. External made of OSB with additional impregnation against moisture and insects.
4. The connection takes place at the joints to reduce heat loss.
SIP panel is ideal for building walls in conventional frame construction. Standard partitions can be cut with common power tools to ensure that the panels fit together perfectly. If the panels are large, some manufacturers additionally reinforce the structure with internal wooden struts.
Features of different insulating materials
Even one manufacturer can produce several types of panels at once, depending on the filler used. For suburban real estate, the best solution would be materials that resist destruction with a significant temperature difference, high humidity:
- polystyrene is an inexpensive and affordable type of sealant;
- polyurethane foam is much better suited for residential premises;
- mineral wool, absolutely not inclined to accumulate moisture;
- fiberboard will give a minimum wall thickness, up to 60 cm;
- expanded polystyrene, the safest and most progressive material .
For suburban real estate, without constant space heating in winter, the key choice will be a material that is not inclined to accumulate excess moisture and keeps heat indoors for a long time. Properly selected SIP panels will simultaneously present an inexpensive country house built in just a few months or weeks.
