The Swiss company PAMP Suisse has developed Veriscan technology that allows buyers to verify the authenticity of gold bars, thereby reducing the number of counterfeits on the market.

Using the app on their mobile phones, customers can now scan the surface of a gold bar with or without packaging and check if it was produced in one of the processing plants. The essence of the technology lies in the fact that a mobile phone scans a certain set of impressions or identifiers, which is not visible to the human eye, which is applied to the surface of a gold bar at the factory, depending on the form used for its production.

As soon as the back of the panel is scanned, the application will inform the user of the test results, i.e. whether the bar is genuine or counterfeit.

According to precious metals dealer Strategic Wealth Preservation, PAMP Suisse is working to improve Veriscan by adding blockchain technology that will allow users to trace the full history of the gold bullion, from the mine where the metal was mined to the dealer selling it.
