Global steel production in January-October 2022, according to the World Steel Association Worldsteel, amounted to 1 billion 552.67 million tons, which is 3.85% lower than the same indicator in 2021. In October, steel production in 64 countries reporting to the association remained at the level of last year and amounted to 147.3 million tons.

China remains the leader among the largest steel producers, whose enterprises produced 860.57 million tons of crude steel, which is 2.20% below 10M 2021. The share of China in global steel production for the reporting period is 55.4%.

China produced 79.8 million tons of steel in October 2022, which is 11.0% more than in October 2021. India produced 10.5 million tons, up 2.7%. Japan produced 7.3 million tons, down 10.6%. The US produced 6.7 million tons, down 8.9%.

Worldsteel estimates that Russia produced 5.8 million tons of steel, down 11.5% from last year.

Ukraine ranks 23rd among 64 steel-producing countries. For 10 months, steel production decreased by 67.36% compared to 2021, to 5.84 million tons.
