Severstal has successfully delivered the first pilot batch of finished parts for the production of dump truck bodies with a lifting capacity of 55 tons to the BELAZ Holding company, a leading manufacturer of mining equipment.
The parts were manufactured from Severstal metal at the Metal Recycling Center (CPM) located in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg, packaged and completed at the customer's request. The delivery was carried out by road directly to the customer's assembly plant.
The delivery also includes parts made from Powerhard 450 wear-resistant rolled products, the use of which ensures that the body is able to walk in accordance with the operating conditions.
Severstal and BELAZ have been cooperating for several decades. Metallurgists supply the engineering giant with a wide range of metal products, which includes high-strength and structural steel grades. In total, 18 thousand tons of rolled metal were delivered in 2024.
"This is a new area of cooperation between our enterprises, in which we are only taking the first steps. But we are ready to develop our capabilities if it gives an economic effect to our partner, and we will be glad to become not only a supplier of rolled metal products for BelAZ, but also a full-fledged partner in production cooperation," said Georgy Argunov, Director of Work with Severstal Engineering Companies.
