European hot-rolled coil manufacturers are having a hard time maintaining prices in the face of low demand and competing imports, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday, June 11.
In Northern Europe, HRC since July time has been heard at €620-630 ($709-743) per ton of ex-work or delivered from integrated plants.
However, sources noted that Mills had a certain degree of flexibility.
"[One German mill]offers[HRC]at €620 per tonne, but it may take about €10-15[per tonne]to close the deal," a buyer's source in Germany said.
Another German supplier was heard to be maintaining supply at at least €620 per tonne delivered, citing reduced availability associated with the preparation of new equipment starting in May-June.
Offers from the repeat video in the region were heard at €600 per ton, Ex-jobs.
The buyer estimated workable prices in the region were registered in the range of €590-600 per ton of Ex-work.
