The long products market in Romania remained stable this week, with no significant price changes compared to last week. Market activity is still limited, mainly due to the approaching summer vacation period. Many market participants expect demand to improve starting in September. At the moment, most buyers are not actively replenishing stocks, and overall business remains sluggish. However, there is some immediate demand for fittings of certain sizes, the supply of which is reportedly limited.
"Demand is lower than usual due to the upcoming holidays. Nevertheless, there is some need for fittings of certain sizes, although there are generally enough reserves at the moment," said a SteelOrbis trader.
Rebar offers from the only domestic manufacturer in Romania remain unchanged week after week and amount to 590-605 euros per ton in stock. Similarly, rebar prices offered by traders remain stable at 590-600 euros per ton from the warehouse.
In the wire rod segment, demand remains weak, but prices remain stable at 585-595 euros per ton from the warehouse, which is supported by stable supplier offers, despite low customer interest.
Meanwhile, most import offers remained stable last week. Reports show that the offers from Egypt have not changed: prices for rebar are 505-510 euros per ton without VAT, and for wire rod - 520-525 euros per ton without VAT. Similarly, the supply of rebar from Bulgaria remains stable at the level of 610-630 euros per ton, as it was last week. In contrast, the supply of Turkish fittings to Romania decreased by 15 euros per ton and now stands at 475-495 euros per ton CFR, based on the exchange rate of 1 euro = 1.16 US dollars and estimated transportation costs of 25-30 euros per ton.
