Prices for rolled products in Romania, both on the spot market and from the only domestic manufacturer of fittings, remained stable over the past week without significant changes in demand. Since the beginning of the August summer holidays, there has been a noticeable lull in the market and limited activity. Most market participants expect a return to normal business activity and demand at the end of the month or in September. Due to the holiday period, the supply is expected to be stable over the coming weeks.
"There is not much activity at the moment, as August has almost started, but by the end of the month we will definitely see a recovery in both prices and demand," says the trader. this was reported by SteelOrbis.
The domestic rebar manufacturer maintained its prices for another week, keeping the offers from manufacturers at 585-590 euros per ton. Similarly, retail market prices throughout Romania have not changed and are still in the range of 580-595 euros per ton from the warehouse.
A similar trend is observed in the wire rod market, where trading activity remains low, and most suppliers offer stable prices in the range of 580-590 euros per ton from the warehouse.
On the other hand, there was limited activity in the import market, as the entire European market is expected to switch to holiday mode in August. In addition, it was reported that fittings from Italian and Hungarian suppliers were supplied to western Romania at a price of 590-600 euros per ton CFR.
Meanwhile, suppliers outside the EU showed mixed price dynamics for shipments in August-September. Egypt has kept its offers at the same level: the price for rebar is 485-490 euros per ton CFR, and for wire rod - 500-505 euros per ton CFR. In contrast, the supply of rebar in Turkey has increased slightly over the past week and now stands at 485-500 euros per ton CFR, based on the exchange rate of 1 euro = 1.14 US dollars and estimated transportation costs of 15-20 euros per ton.
