The European Commission has postponed the quota date to July 1, 2025, in order to lift the 15% quota limit for Turkey, South Korea and the United Kingdom, for profiles and rolled products made of cast iron or non-alloy steel (category 17) and reintroduce country quotas for these countries in accordance with the notification submitted to the World Trade Organization. the Organization (WTO). These adjustments will take effect from August 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
The Commission found that limiting the volume of quotas by country within the global category 17 affects the traditional trade flows of these three countries, limiting their access to duty-free trade volumes to levels below their historical trade levels, as previously reported by SteelOrbis. If the quota is exceeded, countries will be subject to an additional duty of 25 percent. According to the statement, the European Commission is ready to consult with the EU member states on the proposed measure.
The quota amounts to be allocated for the UK, Turkey and South Korea can be seen in the table below
