According to the Spanish steelworkers association UNESCO, in August of this year, steel production in Spain totaled 817,000 tons, down six percent month-on-month and 8.5 percent year-on-year. For the period from January to August of this year, steel production in the country amounted to 8.33 million tons, compared with 7.97 million tons recorded for the same period in 2024.
This month, the Spanish steel industry processed 625,000 tons of scrap metal to produce new steel products, down 2.3% from the previous month and 5.7% year-on-year. In the first eight months of this year, the industry processed 6.57 million tons of scrap metal.
