Thyssenkrupp Steel Company appointed Marie Yaroni as the new executive director

Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe has appointed Sales and Transformation Director Marie Yaroni as its new executive director effective November 1, after the contract with predecessor Dennis Grimm was terminated by mutual agreement, the steel company said.

There were rumors that Grimm, who never became CEO but instead took over the company as a representative of the executive board and chief operating officer, was stepping down earlier this week.

Jaroni, who joined the executive board of tk Steel only in October 2024, also extended her contract for five years, starting on November 1, 2025. The contract with Finance director Philippe Konze was also extended for the same period.

.

Grimm assumed responsibility for thyssenkrupp's steel business during a difficult period and, in addition to numerous operational improvements, played a crucial role in shaping a new industrial concept and initiating urgently needed restructuring. The Supervisory Board would like to express its gratitude to Dennis Grimm and wish him all the best and further success," says Ilse Henne, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of tk Steel

.

Jaroni assumes temporary responsibility for production operations, strategic corporate governance, and additional functional areas. The position of Production Director will be filled as part of a structured process as soon as possible. Jaroni's duties, which have been performed so far, will be temporarily assumed by the current head of Sales, Georgios Giovanakis.

"Marie Giaroni managed to determine the direction of the steel industry's development thanks to her strategic vision, persuasiveness and great dedication. With her transition to the position of CEO, she has the opportunity to lead thyssenkrupp Steel to a successful future together with her management team," notes Henne.

Jaroni conducted important negotiations on the collective agreement on restructuring purposefully, on the basis of consensus and fairly. The same applies to the current discussions on concluding agreements in the company. This has created a solid foundation for trust in her new position. Philippe Konze stands for transparency and clarity, which we need to move forward," says Knut Gisler, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
