On October 29, EU countries voted to impose definitive anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled flat steel from India, Japan, Turkey, Vietnam and Taiwan (China), market sources told McCloskey.
Fifteen countries supported the measures, nine abstained and three voted against.
The duties will take effect after the relevant regulation is published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Earlier in October, the European Commission revised the proposed duty rates on products from Turkey, lowering them from an initial 5.6–9.7% to 3.0–7.8%.
The European Commission launched an anti-dumping investigation following a complaint filed in September last year by Eurofer, the European steel producers’ association. The EU authorities decided not to impose provisional duties, so the measures cannot be applied retroactively.
Dow Jones Energy tracks changes in steel trade protection measures in its Global Steel Trade Measures Database, which is updated monthly.
