Polish prices for steel fittings and wire rod remained stable during the week until Friday, November 7, with moderate demand keeping prices at the same level, Fastmarkets sources said.
"The current price level is unsustainable," said a source in the manufacturing sector.
"With rising energy prices in the winter season, we can only see prices rising," they added.
A week before Friday, estimates of an acceptable price level for wire rod were announced in the range of 2580-2650 zlotys (703-722 dollars) per ton of CPT, the same as in the previous assessment period.
Thus, Fastmarkets' weekly estimate of prices for steel rod (drawing quality), domestic, supplied from Poland, also amounted to 2580-2650 zlotys per ton, unchanged week to week.
Prices for Polish rebar also remained stable during the week until November 7.
As in the previous week, estimates of an acceptable level in the range of 2420-2450 zlotys per ton of CPT were announced.
As a result, Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for rebar steel bars domestic production, CPT Poland on Friday amounted to 2420-2450 zlotys per ton, also unchanged week to week.
