Saarstahl acquires Dutch company FNSteel

Saarstahl has agreed to acquire FNsteel, a Dutch manufacturer of long products, and Kallanish, a German manufacturer of special quality long products (SBQ).

FNSteel, located in Alblasserdam, specializes mainly in the production of high-quality cold-cast steels for the automotive and construction industries.

"FNsteel has state-of-the-art production facilities, excellent product quality and a strong market position. This is an excellent fit for us and will help strengthen our position in the cold-rolled steel sector," says Stefan Rauber, Executive Director of Saarstahl

.

Cold-stamped steel has been specially developed for cold forging, explains Saarstal. The cold stamping process makes it possible to economically produce precision parts capable of withstanding extreme loads. Cold-rolled steel has become known for its particularly high purity and ductility, high impact strength and reliable durability.

FNSteel has been owned by British Steel since 2017, but was excluded from the British Steel rescue program by the UK government earlier this year.

Separately, Saarstahl announces that it has certified its first low-CO2 products in accordance with the Low-emission Steel (LESS) standard. Saarstahl has received the "Low Emission C" certificate for its long steel, wire rod and rail groups The raw steel for these products is produced at the Saarstahl Ascoval plant in Saint—Solvay, France, in an electric arc furnace using scrap as the starting material.
