GMH Gruppe has merged Kind & Co. and Buderus Edelstahl into a single open stamping group together with Schmiedewerke Gröditz as part of the ongoing integration process within the group.
This step is a key element of GMH Gruppe's transformation strategy and is aimed at strengthening the group's position in the European market for tool steel and open forming. To support the integration, GMH Gruppe is investing about 30 million euros in the production of open-die forging products.
As part of the consolidation, coordination between the three companies in the areas of production planning, metallurgy, logistics and sales will be strengthened. Increased efficiency is expected through joint management of production facilities, process harmonization, and interface integration.
Within the integrated structure, each brand was provided with a clear positioning. Kind & Co. specializes in the production of hot-rolled tool steels, high-quality and remelted tool steels for technically demanding applications, and also offers end-user services, technical application support, and vacuum quenching. Schmiedewerke Gröditz specializes in the production of pressure forgings, rolled rings, structural steels, special forged parts for processing plastics, as well as stainless and remelted steels. Buderus Edelstahl is positioned as a full-service supplier of tool steel, providing high-depth machining of structural steels for large parts, plastics processing, tool holders and die supports. This differentiation allows GMH Gruppe to meet diverse customer requirements across a wide range of applications.
The open-air forging group offers standard performance-oriented solutions, as well as premium solutions, allowing customers to choose the option that best meets their technical requirements and expected service life. Together, these three companies cover the entire production and distribution chain of tool steel and open-cast stamping, from scrap metal remelting to forging, machining and heat treatment.
Within the integrated structure, the range includes more than 400 steel grades and more than 2,500 modifications for analysis, ranging from standard tool steels to high-quality grades of remelted steel. The ability to supply small batches and small-format components from a single supplier is especially important for industries that require short production times, prototyping, and special geometry.
