During the first nine months of 2025, European Steel Service Centers (SSC) saw moderate supply growth, according to EUROMETAL's latest SSC market monitoring report.
According to the European Steel Distributors Association, shipments of flat rolled strip products in 27 EU countries increased by 0.5% year-on-year from January to September A noticeable increase occurred only in September, which amounted to 11.1% year-on-year, indicating an improvement in production activity, EUROMETAL reports.
At the same time, SSC stocks in the 27 EU countries decreased by 6.2% compared to the nine-month period in 2024, reflecting cautious inventory management despite growing demand.
EUROMETAL notes higher performance in the region, which includes Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium, where shipments increased by 1.4% year-on-year in January-September and by 10.8% in September alone. Stocks in this key industrial region decreased by 10.9% in nine months, indicating a steady decline in stocks in northern continental Europe, the association said.
The increased supply, combined with stable inventory levels, indicates that European service centers are cautiously adjusting to recovering demand.
