Rebar prices at German factories have increased only slightly in recent weeks, and the same fate has befallen wire mesh.
The manager of the company from Bender reports that since November, wire rod prices have recovered somewhat, which may affect the pricing of wire mesh. Currently, prices for wire mesh with delivery are about 60 euros per ton ($70) higher than for rebar, as Callanish learns from buyers.
The offers for the base price of rebar now amount to 340 euros per ton. If we add another 265 euros to the standard size, the shipping price will be 605 euros per ton. The base price for wire mesh is 100 euros higher and is 440 euros per ton, which, plus an average surcharge of 212 euros, gives a delivery price of 662 euros per ton, another manager said.
He does not believe that the price increase for wire mesh will be stronger than for rebar, mainly because wire mesh is commonly used in the construction of small residential buildings, in a segment where activity is particularly low.
One of the extraordinary factors is the increase in prices for rebar products at one of the plants, Badische Stahlwerke, which occurred at the end of the summer. According to the manager, Badische also intended to raise the prices of the wire mesh. According to him, they more or less coped with the fittings, but they did not succeed with the wire mesh.
In addition, the only factory that followed Badishe's example was the Austrian Marienhütte. Other plants have not attempted to follow their example, "and will not do so in the near future," predicts the manager.
