The Italian manufacturer of special ABS steels, part of the Danieli Group, has opened a new service center in Vernamo, Sweden. The site will become the company's main operating hub in Scandinavia and the first ABS service center outside of Italy. The launch completes the ABS Steel Nordic development project, launched in 2025, and strengthens the group's position in the Nordic market.
The ABS Steel Nordic service center covers an area of about 25,000 square meters. It includes a new building with an area of 5,500 square meters. The site combines warehouse services, processing, cutting, logistics and metallurgical consulting. This allows the company to work with both large industrial customers and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as with machine workshops. The construction of the facility took about ten months, and the center is equipped with automated and robotic systems for processing and cutting materials.
The facility also received the Miljöbyggnad Silver environmental certificate, the second level in the Swedish building sustainability assessment system, which is overseen by the Swedish Green Building Council (SGBC). The certification confirms compliance with the minimum requirements for energy efficiency, quality of the internal environment, as well as the choice and traceability of materials.
The center will serve the key markets of Northern Europe. Vernamo was chosen due to its advantageous location relative to Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The availability of stocks will allow you to speed up deliveries and reduce the response time to customer requests.
The site specializes in special steels. The warehouse offers hot-rolled, peeled, cold-drawn and ground rolled products, as well as forged products ranging in size from about 20 to 300 mm. The cutting equipment installed in the center allows processing workpieces up to 560 mm in diameter. The range will include carbon steel, surface layer hardening steel, hardened and tempered steel, as well as microalloyed grades. Technical and metallurgical support will be provided by the ABS Centre Métallurgique (ACM) research center.
Camilla Benedetti, President of ABS Acciaierie, called the opening an important milestone in the company's international growth. According to her, the Northern European market requires high quality, sustainable solutions and strong service, and the new center will bring the company closer to customers by combining steel supplies, logistics, assortment management and technical consulting.
