The number of recent contracts for the supply of Italian fittings has increased, and manufacturers raised prices further in October, requesting 480-490 euros per ton at base prices from the factory, or 545.8–557.2 dollars per ton.
However, the price increase is difficult to maintain against the background of a cautious position of buyers and weak activity in the market, sources say.
According to some participants, they are already feeling the effects of the completion of EU-funded infrastructure projects. One distributor reported weak demand for rebar and mesh in recent weeks. At the same time, the representative of the construction company is more optimistic and expects a good October due to new orders.
"Payment delays continue, and despite some improvement in demand in the second half of September, the market situation remains difficult," one of the sources said.
The rebar deals concluded last week averaged 430-440 euros per ton from the factory.
It is also reported that for a batch of one truck, or about 30 tons, the price reaches 460 euros per ton. According to Kallanish, on Friday, Italian fittings from the factory cost 690-730 euros per ton, taking into account additional dimensions in the amount of 260-270 euros per ton.
Prices for the material with delivery are estimated at 520-540 euros per ton, excluding additional dimensions of 300 euros per ton.
