Borusan Pipe, a major Turkish steel pipe manufacturer, has made its second largest investment in Europe in Ploiesti in southern Romania.
With an investment of €15 million, the project, which began construction in March 2023, will perform cutting and finishing operations on cylindrical tubes, reserve tubes and monotubes for specialty shock absorber applications. The division, which will produce products using technologies such as short-cut cutting, brushing and in-line washing, will serve shock absorber manufacturers in the automotive supply chain.
The Romanian government supported Borusan Pipe's investment with state aid in €5.83 million.
The service center in Romania is expected to contribute to the company's total turnover of US$8 million in the second half of the year as it gradually begins operations.
“Another important step towards our goal of becoming a local player in international markets is the opening of our new service center in Romania,” says Borusan Pipe Executive Vice President Ali Okiay. “As a regional player in Europe, we will be close to our customers and offer the supply chain flexibility they need. With this investment, we will move closer to our goal of becoming the leading total solution provider and steel pipe manufacturer on the continent, especially in Eastern Europe.”
