The Ukrainian company INTERPIPE has supplied pumping and compressor pipes with a premium UPJ-M connection for the modernization of gas production infrastructure in Romania.
The equipment will be used to upgrade 39 wells of the Bilciureşti field in the south of the country. This was announced by the company's press service.
The project provides for an increase in daily natural gas production from 14 to 20 million cubic meters.
This is the first significant supply of INTERPIPE pipes with UPJ-M thread to the market not only in Romania, but throughout Europe.
"This is the first significant volume of UPJ-M threaded pipes that we have managed to supply not only to Romania, but also to the European market as a whole," said Ivan Mazanka, Interpipe's Director of Pipe Sales in Europe.
"The design of the premium UPJ-M connection is ideal for gas production due to its high tightness and resistance to internal and external pressure. We hope that the successful launch experience will open the way for our products to other oil and gas projects in the region," he added.
Romania has been actively increasing its natural gas production over the past ten years. The country is investing both in new fields onshore and offshore, as well as in the modernization of existing facilities.
The Bilciureşti gas field, which received Ukrainian pipes, was discovered back in 1962, but it still remains an important element of Romania's energy system.
