Ukrzaliznytsya JSC plans to introduce fixed-term contracts for the sale of scrap in order to increase customer interest and ensure a predictable flow of funds for the company itself, said Evgeny Shramko, head of the Repair and Production department at UZ.
"Now the lots are 300 tons, 400 tons, 1000 tons. We will prepare, within the framework of the law, a base for the exhibition of scrap, which will still be processed. It is not physically on the site yet, but we will cut it, redo it, in order to ship it to the buyer," Shramko said at a meeting with associations and businesses in Kyiv on Thursday.
According to him, this will enable buyers to have a predictable supply of scrap and work on large contracts.
According to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, during the meeting it was discussed that 77 auctions were successfully held from June to August 2025, 28.2 thousand tons of scrap were sold. 95.5 thousand tons are now ready for sale, including 22.6 thousand tons put up for auction. Additionally, 131 thousand tons are being prepared for sale.
Shramko also said that the uniform price for loading services had been reduced to UAH 1,143 thousand with VAT, but now the company is offering scrap at a price that is differentiated depending on the loading point and the loading method.
At the same time, the price does not depend on the type of scrap yet, but this may be changed in the future.
As reported, in June of this year, UZ conducted the first successful online auctions for the sale of scrap metal after a pause of more than a year and a half.
