German steel manufacturer Salzgitter AG has reached an agreement to acquire Thyrolf & Uhle GmbH, a specialized steel processing company based in Dessau—Roslau, Yieh reports.

It is noted that this strategic agreement is aimed at the growing defense industry market, where demand for the construction of military vehicles and infrastructure protection is growing due to geopolitical changes.

Thyrolf & Uhle employs about 100 people and processes more than 12,000 tons of steel per year.

The company has special certificates for working with ballistic protection materials. By integrating these capabilities, Salzgitter AG gains expertise in sheet metal processing and manufacturing components that meet strict military standards.

Gunnar Grebler, CEO of Salzgitter, stated that this acquisition strengthens the company's position in a sector that needs a reliable material base. The agreement has yet to receive official regulatory approvals. Both sides decided not to disclose the financial details of the acquisition.
