the European investment Bank (EIB) has decided by the end of 2021 to end the funding of projects related to the consumption of fossil fuels, including natural gas. The decision agreed in the framework of the European Union to combat climate change.
the European investment Bank is located in the heart of the so-called "European green deal" — an ambitious plan announced by new European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to counter the threats posed by global climate change.
the Bank should be the main support institution efforts to protect the environment.
Nancy Saich, expert EIB climate change: "This is a very important aspect of the transition. This year in the world there were many protests, not only with young people, for example, demonstrations were held "yellow jackets" in France. And if we do not address issues related to the welfare of the people, if there is a threat to the existence of jobs, for example, in the industry associated with coal and high levels of emissions, unless we take this into account and do not give them opportunities for new work in the future, it will mean that we will not resolve their problem. We must work taking into account the interests of all parties."

General Director of group of companies SUEZ Bertrand Camus in an interview with the Euronews TV channel, said that lending to "green economy" for business means a combination of regulation and incentives: "on the one hand, regulation will determine what needs to be done and what promotional measures can be taken in this respect. I think that there are several aspects and one of them is the need to promote innovation. For example, we are talking about the transition from receiving energy from fossil sources to renewable, hydrogen, other resources. And I'm sure it applies to other types of industry associated with the environment. It takes a vision of development, stability and incentives".
According to recent opinion polls, 93% of Europeans believe that global climate change is a serious problem that requires solutions.
