Severstal in 2025 begins the overhaul of the domain furnace No. 4 (DP-4) "Vologzhanka" at the site of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant (Chermk, key asset of Severstal). DP-4 produces 2.4 million tons of cast iron and is the third in terms of production of cast iron to Chermk.
“Despite the difficult situation in the industry, the long -term program for the technical re -equipment of the first redistribution of the Chermk, which has developed by the end of 2024. The implementation of the complex of work will ensure the following working campaign of a blast furnace lasting at least 15 years to restore design parameters, ensure high performance, reliability and environmental friendliness of equipment. The main operations in the framework of the project are the replacement of theless loading device, the stove cooling system and refractory masonry, the repair of the air heaters block, the foundry and the aspiration system. All this will allow us to ensure the production of cast iron on DP-4 with an increased share of iron ore pellets and reduced fuel consumption, which is important in terms of effectiveness and impact on the environment, ”said Evgeny Vinogradov, General Director of the Severstal Russian Steel and resource assets .
Aspiration system - key environmental equipment of the unit. It is planned to equip the furnace with highly effective aspiration suction from cast -iron flaunts, shelters of the gutters of cast iron and slag, and the places of drain of cast iron. The control of aspiration valves will be carried out automatically. The regime of their work is supposed to be synchronized with the modes of cast iron in the foundry. This will improve the condition of the jobs and reduce unorganized emissions from the foundry to the atmosphere due to the effective capture of the dust formed during the issuance of swimming products.
The organization of construction and installation works involved their own divisions of Severstal. The general contractor of the work is the Domnaremont Center (part of Severstal). The general designer was the Severstal-Project. Specialists of 30 companies in the Vologda region with the total number of personnel are involved in the manufacture of equipment and the work of about a thousand people.
Currently, preparatory and design work is underway on the site. The stove stop is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
