Bystrinsky GOK launches second copper concentrate packaging unit

The Bystrinsky GOK processing plant has completed an upgrade to the finished-products shipping area. As part of the project, a second copper concentrate packaging unit was commissioned, helping reduce equipment downtime. The company’s press service reported this.

“An additional packaging unit was needed because the plant’s output has increased. Copper concentrate is continuously transported to the warehouse by conveyor, then loaded into 2-tonne big bags. Before packaging and stacking, a processing-products inspector takes samples to check that the concentrate meets the required standards. These operations take time, and the increased output put more pressure on the unit. Now both units operate in parallel, eliminating the bottleneck,” said Yevgeny Mokeev, foreman of the drying and finished-products shipping area.

Previously, the only unit had limited capacity despite modifications and upgrades, and could not handle the volume of concentrate arriving. In addition, it was impossible to continue operations without downtime while the unit was being repaired or cleaned.

“The work has become easier: we no longer use pallets, and it takes less time to start up the unit. As a result, there is less downtime at the plant,” said third-grade weigh feeder operator Anton Alimasov.

The project was completed in about a year. Following installation in August 2026, testing began, and the second copper concentrate packaging unit was commissioned in September.
