Tuesday, November 19, at the metallurgical plant "Zaporizhstal" of the group "Metinvest" Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novinsky was visited by the Ambassador of Austria in Ukraine, Gernot Pfandler.

during the visit, the Ambassador got acquainted with the ecological modernization of the plant, including the work of pickling line CPL-4 in cold rolling mill No. 1 and the main control room of the enterprise.

"the Construction of a unique line of hydrochloric acid pickling of CPL-4 "Zaporizhstal" was made possible thanks to the cooperation with Austrian partners and the involvement of Austrian Control Bank", - said the factory, adding that the production cycle provides for the restoration and cleaning of waste hydrochloric acid with subsequent return to production.

Due to the construction of pickling line CPL-4 installation of regeneration of hydrochloric acid was stopped to discharge the waste etching solution in the Dnieper river, as well as sulphuric acid fumes.

"the Cooperation of Austria with the "Zaporizhstal" steel works has a positive result for the environment. We have seen that production with a closed cycle working effectively without harming the environment," said Pfahler.

At the plant recalled that since 2012, the ecological modernization of "Zaporizhstal" allocated more than UAH 10 billion "green" investment.

"Environmental solutions will significantly reduce the load on the region and to improve the ecological situation in the city. The largest of the completed projects: complete reconstruction of gas-cleaning equipment of sinter plant, reducing dust emissions by 90%, sulphur dioxide by 50%," he told the "Zaporizhstal".

Earlier it was reported that in 2019, the plant commissioned a modern complex of interception of industrial and storm drains, thereby reducing the discharge of industrial waters into the Dnieper river by 5 million cubic meters per year.
