When working with truck scales, it is mandatory to periodically calibrate, adjust and verify. For many, these definitions mean the same job, but this is not the case and we will try to clarify these definitions. We note right away that these are completely different concepts, containing consistent work of qualified specialists.

Setting up truck scales consists of several stages, adjustment, parameter setting and calibration. All adjustments are made exclusively by I&C engineers.

In the process of adjusting the truck scales, the engineer adjusts the equipment so that the readings are identical at any point of the load platform. This operation is one of the most difficult, it depends on the correct adjustment of the characteristics of strain gauges through the conversion unit (or another name, depending on the manufacturer). Only after the adjustment is completed, you can start setting the basic parameters. The main parameters consist of the largest weight limit (LLL), discreteness, multi-interval, as well as the degree of filtering, weight zeroing and brightness, data transmission parameters are separately configured. After the adjustment, the metrological characteristics are entered into the memory of the equipment - calibration of the scales. For correct calibration, it is necessary to use reference weights, with a certain class and quantity established by GOST or a description of the type of measuring instruments.

Calibration of truck scales

The scale calibration process consists of the following steps:

calibration "0" - calibration of an empty platform;

entering the value of the reference load placed on the platform (at least 10% of the maximum weighing limit is recommended, in fact, the more the better);

calibration "1" - laden platform calibration;

save scale calibration.

Verification of automobile scales is a determination of the conformity of the metrological characteristics with the declared ones, which is carried out by a metrology engineer (verifier) using a reference weight and a substitution method. If the truck scales correspond to the declared characteristics, then a verification certificate is issued, if not - a certificate of unsuitability for use. In the first case, everything is in order and you can get to work. In the second case, it is necessary to repair or adjust the scales depending on the problem, then re-verify.
