Severstal supported the XVIII Ferapontov Readings on the History and Culture of the Northern Monasteries, which took place on October 18 at the Museum of Dionysius Frescoes (Ferapontovo, Vologda Region).
The Ferapont Readings ( the annual scientific conference for schoolchildren, students, museum staff and professional researchers) is one of the most important events in the scientific, museum and church life of the region, has been held since 2001 with the support of Severstal.
Kirillo-Belozersk Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve, the spiritual and educational center "Northern Thebaida", with the support of the Department of Education of the Vologda Region, the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda Region, the Regional Council "Consent", the Vologda Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The purpose of the readings is spiritual enlightenment, patriotic education, familiarizing students with scientific research, communication between students and a specialist ovs united by an interest in the history of the Russian North.
The traditional range of topics for readings includes the local history of Northern Orthodox monasteries and ascetics, the biography of the Russian priesthood, the history of Orthodox architecture and church art objects, the study of written historical sources, modern restoration of historical monuments, tourist routes to historical and cultural sites.
A topical topic of the readings in recent years has become a conversation about specific projects and the contribution of young Vologda residents to the revival and preservation of monuments of spiritual culture of the Vologda region.
In total, 115 people took part in the readings.
