On the eve of the opening of the new season 2019-2020. UMMC-OCM presented the Sverdlovsk Academic Theater of Musical Comedy with numbers for a wardrobe made of an antibacterial copper-based alloy. Its use is a proven method of preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
Alloys with a copper content of more than 60% are effective compared to others in fight against most known pathogenic microorganisms. Copper surpasses even silver in its antimicrobial properties. Upon contact with a copper surface, 99.9% of all bacteria are killed within the first two hours. New numbers for a wardrobe made of disinfecting material in the Sverdlovsk Musical Comedy are more hygienic and safer for the health of visitors, especially during the period of massive outbreaks of SARS and influenza.
Today UMMC-OCM is working to popularize the antimicrobial properties of copper and its use in public places. This method of prevention is actively used in Europe, the USA and in some Asian countries, but is not yet widespread in Russia.
Experts recommend using copper alloys for air conditioning and drainage systems, for copper plating of surfaces, handrails in transport, railings, door handles, ATM keyboards and other common areas of everyday use. The effect of using copper in the manufacture of medical equipment and instruments has been proven to reduce the risk of contracting hospital infections.
