Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) became the winner of the “Company of the Future-2024” award, which is awarded at the initiative of the business magazine “Company”. TMK received an award in the special category “Scientific Capital” for the creation of a powerful corporate research base, represented, in particular, by the TMK Scientific and Technical Center (STC TMK) in Moscow and a unique team of scientists and researchers numbering more than 400 specialists.
The prize in the “Scientific Capital” nomination is awarded to a company that, through the development of its own research potential, contributes to the entry of the entire industry into a new stage of technological development. The award experts highly praised the TMK Scientific and Technical Center, one of the key industry research sites where TMK's innovative potential is concentrated and the full range of research and development work (R&D) is carried out, as well as the headquarters of the TMK2U Corporate University.
The center, which turned five years old in 2024, conducts comprehensive testing of pipe products in accordance with international standards. Thanks to modern equipment and a highly professional team at STC TMK, advanced solutions go through a full cycle from conception and development to digital modeling, testing under loads simulating real operating conditions, and launch into production.
STC TMK occupies an area of 16 thousand sq. sq. meters. Its employees conduct research and development, in particular, invent new materials, study their microstructure, create prototypes of pipe products and test their performance properties, as well as develop and implement digital solutions. Every year, STC TMK specialists conduct about 500 R&D projects in collaboration with the country's leading universities and institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“At STC TMK we managed to create a unique team. It employs researchers, many of whom have scientific degrees - for example, in the spring of 2024, the company defended two doctoral dissertations by employees under the age of 40. This emphasizes that TMK creates all the conditions for the development of young scientists who form the core of innovation, giving them the freedom to search for and implement their ideas,” said TMK’s director of scientific work, general director of the TMK STC Igor Pyshmintsev.
Since 1999, the Company magazine has been recognizing the achievements of the best corporate business participants in Russia with its own award, which since 2021 has been held in an updated format. In 2023, TMK received an award in the special category “Corporate Socialization” for the creation and development of the internal social network Mobi2U as an effective way of large-scale team building and ideological unity of employees of geographically distributed companies.
