SHAAZ modernize shunting locomotives for "Norilsk Nickel"

JSC "Shadrinsk automobile units plant" sent to the customer – OJSC MMC "Norilsk Nickel" – the first modernized locomotive TEM2-UMMC. Work is performed under the contract on modernization in 2019 on the basis of JSC "SHAAZ" three locomotives, owned by the mining company.

That is why the choice was made in favor of our company. Since the launch of the project on modernization of shunting locomotives in 2014, SHAAZ has produced more than seventy-five modernized and new locomotives that perform shunting work on mining and metallurgical industries across the country, have confirmed to increase productivity and reduce operating costs. But most importantly, the locomotive series TEM2-UMMC, ТГМ4Б-and ТГМ6 UMMC-UMMC is certified for compliance with the Technical regulations of the Customs Union "On safety of railway rolling stock" with the extension of the service life, – said the Deputy technical Director on modernization of locomotives JSC "SHAAZ" Alexander Papiroski.

Norilsk is located in the Arctic circle, so the experts of the Hungarian company "Woodward-Mega" and JSC "SHAAZ" has made in the design of diesel locomotive TEM2-UMMC, a number of changes to support performance in the far North. So, to keep the heat ducts of the machine closed by canvas covers. The roof and doors diesel chamber covered inside with additional insulation. The locomotive is equipped with a heating fuel, which will not allow it to freeze even at extremely low temperatures and will ensure the engine's operation at specified modes. Inside the battery module installed infrared heaters that are connected to the control system of the locomotive and controlled automatically, without the participation of the people. The same heaters in the cab, which will create comfortable working conditions for locomotive crews. In addition, the locomotive has the opportunity to connect additional equipment, namely installation "Buran" or "breeze" that blow railway track of snow.



From Moscow to Norilsk locomotive TEM2-UMMC will travel over 4,000 kilometers by land and water. Accompany the locomotive engineers of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, held in JSC "SHAAZ" training on operation of new equipment. Also on the basis of Shadrinsk auto aggregate plant, the training of the Norilsk professionals who in the future will have to deal with the operation and maintenance of modernized locomotives.



To the end of 2019 JSC "SHAAZ" will be sent to the address of JSC MMC "Norilsk Nickel" two locomotive TEM2-UMMC, and in 2020, modernizes four locomotives of this series.
