The staff of the European Parliament are preparing for a charity race

A team of 10 people from MEPs International gathered their courage and completed the annual 10-kilometer run in Sheffield to raise money for charity.

Keen amateur athlete Kevin Wong, a member of the Steel City Striders running club in Sheffield and an analyst at the specialist in the analysis of the steel market, called on his colleagues to take up the challenge and help the children's hospice in Bluebell Woodand St. Luke's Hospicein this Sunday (September 28).

Wong regularly commutes to work for the Glossop road company, claiming, "It's faster than public transport in Sheffield.""

His colleagues do not share his passion for running. Nevertheless, Wong was able to harness the community spirit among his fellow MEPs to form an unusual team of participants.

Many of the group have been trained to prepare for the company's fundraising.

Study presenter Michelle Kirton participated in a 5km run in the park to prepare for this challenge, but admitted: "This will be my first 10 km race "

She added, "I wanted to challenge myself, and it certainly happened, but it's all for a great cause. The money is for two incredible local charities."

Tom Sharp, the editor-in-chief of the MEP, said: "Back in 2005, I attended a turf cutting ceremony that marked the beginning of work on the creation of the Bluebell Wood children's hospice.

"Over the years, I have become convinced of the phenomenal service provided by both the University and St. Luke's Hospital.

"Running through the streets of Sheffield on a Sunday morning is not something I usually do, but I am proud to join my fellow MEPs to support two truly inspiring South Yorkshire charities."
