MMK improves energy efficiency of production

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works continues to implement projects to improve the energy efficiency of production processes. The total economic effect from this activity amounted to about half a billion rubles in 2018. One of the most important areas for improving energy efficiency at MMK is the development and implementation of relevant rationalization proposals. Back in 2016, the plant introduced the Idea Management block of the Energy Management Platform (EMP) application, which made it possible to increase the efficiency of working with energy efficient ideas, significantly increasing the speed of ideas submission and the percentage of their implementation. In total, 680 ideas were submitted through the IEM last year, of which 139 were implemented with a planned annual economic effect of 73.25 million rubles. Initially, only energy-efficient ideas were supported in the system, however, the high efficiency of the platform was the reason for the adoption in 2017 of a decision on accompanying ideas /rationalization proposals and other categories in FEM: ideas in the field of saving material and technical resources, ecology, labor protection, industrial safety and others. In 2018, information from pre-existing systems was transferred to the IEM, which resulted in the creation of an archive of submitted and implemented ideas, numbering at the moment more than 19 thousand ideas. In addition, in 2017-2018, work was organized to introduce the Idea Management block in the companies of the MMK Group. At the moment, information is being transferred to TEM from MMK Metalurji (Republic of Turkey). Thanks to the successful operation of the Idea Management block, MMK employees have the opportunity to submit and work out ideas in electronic form. The reliability of decision-making on capital-intensive energy-efficient projects, including those financed under baby-capex schemes and energy service contracts, has significantly improved. In total, 17 projects were implemented under the baby-capex scheme in 2018 with a total planned economic effect of 350 million rubles; under the energy service scheme, a contract was implemented for the installation of frequency converters on raw water pumps for chemical water treatment at the MMK Central Power Plant. The total effect from the implementation of projects under the energy service scheme, including those implemented earlier, amounted to RUB 97.9 million in 2018. Development of the Energy Management Platform made it possible to automate many operations that were previously performed manually. The author of the rationalization proposal can not only submit an idea in electronic form, but also track its further fate in his mobile phone, making the necessary amendments. This became possible thanks to the integration of the MMK Evolution mobile application with PEM. In addition, the function of controlling the accrual of remuneration for accepted and implemented ideas is being tested. A special consideration algorithm is applied to the most original projects, the result of which is immediately difficult to determine.
