PMH exceeded the design capacity at the new blast furnace

Tulachermet exceeded the design daily capacity at the new blast furnace by 15%, from 3.5 to 4 thousand tons. Blast furnace No. 1 was blown out in May 2026

It was possible to exceed the design targets due to an accurate selection of technological parameters and an increase in the supply of oxygen and natural gas.

The new blast furnace consumes 8% less coke per ton of cast iron compared to the shut-down DP–3 - this is the main indicator affecting the cost of production. This result was achieved through the introduction of technological innovations – the installation of a modern conveyor charge feed with additional screens for screening out small fractions and a cone-free loading device for optimal distribution of the charge over the cross-section of the grate, which makes it possible to ensure efficient operation of the gas flow in the furnace and reduce coke consumption.

The large-scale re-equipment also affected the foundry yard. As part of the construction of DP-1, modern hydraulic equipment was installed for the maintenance of cast iron ladles, a gutter system that ensures complete separation of cast iron and slag, gutter shelters and an aspiration system that ensured the manufacturability and safety of work.
