Inflation in Argentina continues to rise

Annual inflation in Argentina continued to rise in July, reaching 33.8%, which is another high for the year and more than three times the government's target. The consumer price index (CPI) rose 33.5% in June from a year earlier, up from 33.2% in May, the statistical agency Indec said. The latest figure decreased from 36.6% in July 2025. Year-on-year, housing and utility prices increased by 48.9%, while transportation prices increased by 40.9%, education by 40% and entertainment by 36.7%. Food and beverages rose in price by 34.5%. Prices for all leading categories increased compared to the previous month. The consumer price index rose by 2.1% month-on-month in June compared with 1.9% and corresponded to the May figure of 2.1%. In March, it reached a peak of 3.4% for the year.

The administration of President Javier Miley forecasts inflation at 10% for the year, while the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts inflation at 30.4% this year.
