The JSA Innovation Center of Metalloinvest hosted the first scientific and technical festival HackMakeFest-2019 for students of the Stary Oskol Technological Institute and Oskol Polytechnic College of NUST MISIS.
In the developer forum more than 30 students took part, their future specialty will be related to automation, power engineering, information systems and technologies.
As part of the event, master classes were held, as well as the main team competition in the format of a two-day hackathon. The topic of the forum was the Internet of Things - the creation of a network of objects that interact with each other and greatly facilitate human life. The participants had to brainstorm and create a functional prototype of a device related to the theme of the festival.
“Activities that allow students to apply their knowledge in practice are very important,” said Oleg Laktyushin, Director of the Information Technology Department of Metalloinvest Management Company ... “Thus, we help the university to adjust the program for the development of students who will come to us after graduation in the future”.
"It is a great honor for us that the site of the Innovation Center has become a kind of unifying cluster between science, business and information technology, which contributes to the most productive involvement of young specialists in everything related to information technology," said the director of regional development of JSA Group (Metalloinvest IT competence center) Andrey Bartov.
“We want to popularize our technical specialties so that students in the future understand that in addition to classes, there are such interesting competitions,” noted the associate professor of the Department of Automated and Information Management Systems of STI NUST MISIS named after A.A. Ugarova Anton Soloviev. “We are very grateful to Metalloinvest for providing such a modern platform - everything here is really innovative, modern, interesting, the guys really like it.”
According to the results of the forum of young developers, the project of the "Reserve" team was recognized as the best.
"Our Keeper system allows you to monitor the health of the worker (measure pulse, temperature) and assess the environment, for example, an increased level of noise or vibration, and give a warning signal," says a representative of the "Reserve" team Stanislav Emelyanov. - After all, any employer is interested in keeping employees healthy, then they work stably and efficiently. We are participating in such an event for the first time. The hackathon not only allows you to come up with and implement new ideas, but also gives you the opportunity to see the result very quickly and motivates you to take further actions. This is a very good experience. "
According to Nikolay Durnev, a member of the jury and head of the JSA Group development team, all teams showed a fairly high level, having prepared working prototypes in a short time, finding interesting technical solutions, original ideas and presenting worthy presentations. All teams were awarded certificates of participants, and the winners who took the first three prizes received diplomas and valuable gifts.
The Innovation Center was opened in Stary Oskol in July 2018 to consolidate and develop Metalloinvest's digital competencies and develop promising solutions for managing production and business processes. The Innovation Center is the main platform for joint development and testing of technologies and solutions developed by the Company in conjunction with Industry 4.0 partners - SAP and Accenture.
