Novolipetsk steel, the flagship site of NLMK Group, has completed the installation of the main technological equipment of continuous casting machine billet No. 9 (CCM-9) - one of the key projects of the Strategy 2022. Now, the production unit started commissioning works.
Upgraded CCM-9 will allow the company to master the production of a range of heavy slabs of high chemical purity and structural uniformity. The machine will produce semi-finished products weighing up to 70 tons, with a thickness up to 400 mm and width up to 2 800 mm for processing in the rolled plates. In turn, this steel can be used for the manufacture of large diameter pipes, components of wind turbines, marine vessels and oil drilling platforms.
Investment in the project amounted to 12 billion rubles. The performance of the new machines will be 1.8 million tons of steel per year. To run complex jobs and get the first production is planned in June 2020.
