In 2020, the Air Force in Russia celebrated its 108th anniversary. To celebrate this date, the organizers - the UMMC Museum Complex - organized a big city-wide celebration, which was attended by several hundred residents of Yekaterinburg and Verkhnyaya Pyshma.

The festival was opened by the Director of the Museum Complex, Commander of the 4th Red Banner Army of the Air Force and Air Defense (until March 2019), Lieutenant General of the Reserve Viktor Sevostyanov: “Each of us flew in a dream. For those who have dedicated their lives to the sky, this feeling is familiar even in reality. We want our guests today to be able to get a little closer to aviation, learn more about it, appreciate its beauty and power, experience in their imaginations an unforgettable feeling of flight that captures us, pilots, in the sky. ”

Unique exhibitions of uniforms and equipment of pilots, search and rescue equipment, drones and modern special equipment of the Russian Air Force, which used to prepare aircraft for flight. Visitors could get a close look at the unique aerodrome technology: a vacuum sweeper, a fire-fighting airfield vehicle, a watering machine, etc.

The culmination of the celebration was the demonstration parachute jumping. Five athletes from DOSAAF with the flags of the Russian Federation, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, the Russian Air Force, UMMC and Uralelektromed, in front of the spectators, jumped on guided parachutes and landed at the Zhuravli memorial at the entrance of the Uralelectromed plant. sky with the flag of Russia 800 sq.m. another parachutist appeared - Alexander Koskov, head of the paratrooper service of the Yekaterinburg Aviation and Sports Club DOSAAF. This jump in May 2020 was recognized as a Russian record for the "Largest airborne flag". In honor of the Air Force Day, the athlete repeated it for all guests of the Museum Complex. “Today was a difficult weather - with low clouds and different wind directions at different heights. The landing area was limited. This is the first time we land in the city with such a flag. But despite all this, we did it! The plans include an increase in the flag area and an application for a world record, "said Alexander Koskov.

Throughout field kitchens worked, where the guests of the holiday tasted real flight porridge. The festive mood was created by the artists of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Central Military District. The celebration ended with an exciting quest dedicated to the history of aviation. The winners received diplomas and prizes from the UMMC Museum Complex.
